SCHOLARSHIP

 

SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Students how have been registered on the contituent schools of CTEVT will be asked to apply for special scholarship. Altogether 75 students each year receive this scholarship (Rs. 5000 each month) throughout the academic years. Students are liable to make full payments to institute and CTEVT. Quota allocation will be done as per the entrance guideline issued by Office of Controller of Examination, CTEVT.

 

CLASSIFIED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is provided to the hard-up students among Community/Government Schools, women, dalit, ethnic group, martyrs, former Kamaiya (poorly paid tenant), Haliaya (poorly paid plough man), Conflict Victims and disadvantaged groups of people. National wise applications are collected through institutes and Entrance exam is conducted. Merits students on each category are allocated institute to study by CTEVT on reference to their applications on choice of the institute. Each institute is liable to afford classified scholarship to three students for their total quota being 40 or more and two for institute with 30 quota programs. Total seats are first calculate throughout the Nation and divided by the percentage. Below are the categories and total percentage for selection.

MERIT BASED SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is provided to one best performing student in each program of the entrance exam from among all the competitors who fills the form as full fee payers in the respective school and college. This applies for the first year admission, whereas for the scholarship of second and third years, the result of previous year / semester will be considered as the basis for scholarship.

 

EXAMINATION

This Section performs the following tasks:

  1. It Conducts Mainly Entrance Tests, Final Tests And Practical Tests.
  2. It Provides Certificates To The Successful Candidates.
  3. It Administers The Test Throughout The Year.
  4. It Maintains The Test Item Data Banks And Keeps Complete Records Of Individuals Who Have Received Training And Certificates From CTEVT Accredited Programs.

 

ADMINISTRATION

This Division performs the tasks mentioned below:

  1. It Performs Day-To-Day Administrative And Financial Tasks.
  2. It Supervises And Manages The Personnel Of CTEVT And Its Institutions.
  3. It Performs Property Management And Other Managerial Tasks.

 

RESEARCH & INFORMATION

Main responsibilities:

  1. Conducts Follow-Up/ Tracer Studies Of TVET Graduates.
  2. Carries Out Feasibility Studies For Establishing New Technical Schools (TS).
  3. Conducts Training Needs Assessment (TNA).
  4. Conducts Other Research Studies As Per Needs And Request From Concerned Agencies And Customers.
  5. Establishes And Operates Training Management Information System (TMIS) And Geographical Information System (GIS).
  6. Publishes And Disseminates TVET Related Information To Public And All Concerned Stakeholders.
  7. Makes Television Programs To Inform The Public About Its Activities.

Moreover, it also provides consultancy services in TVET sub-sector conducting massive research activities as per the demand of the schools/ institutes. These research products are used for training, planning and project proposal development. In addition, instructional training, curriculum development and skill testing services are provided to government, semi-government and private sectors as per their demand.

 

TRAINING

The Division is responsible for the following activities:

  1. It Monitors / Supervises The Rural Training Centers (RTCs) Under CTEVT And Coordinates With The Similar Efforts Of Private Institutions.
  2. It Facilitates And Provides Guidelines To Run Need Based Short Term Vocational Courses, Especially To The Illiterate Women And Underprivileged People Of Local Communities Through RTCs.
  3. It Encourages RTCs To Run Sponsored Courses And To Strengthen Workforce Of Village Development Committees (VDCs), District Development Committees (DDCs) And Other INGOs/NGOs In The Field Of Vocational Training And Community Development (VTCD).

 

POLICY & PLANNING

This Division is mainly responsible for the following activities:

  1. It Plans Programs And Formulates The Overall Policy Of CTEVT.
  2. It Plans And Develops The Long Term Strategic And Operational Planning.
  3. It Monitors And Evaluates The Programs And Activities Running Under CTEVT And
  4. It Provides The Necessary Inputs About TEVT Policy To His Majesty's Government Of Nepal (HMGN).

 

TECHNICAL

This Division has the following tasks:

  1. It Monitors All Technical Training Providers For Quality Assurance.
  2. It Provides Input Regarding Technical Matters And Also Assists In Conducting Examinations And Evaluations Of Training Programs.
  3. It Coordinates With National And International TEVT Programs For Quality Education And Training.
  4. It Ensures The Quality Of The TEVT Graduates.

 

NSTB

Skill testing activity was initiated in Nepal in 1983 through an autonomous body called Skill Testing Authority (STA), which introduced a system of occupational classification, development of skill standards, skill testing and certification based upon the guidelines of Asia Pacific Skill Development Project/ International Labor Organization (APSDEP/ILO). After the CTEVT was constituted in 1989, the STA was placed under the umbrella of CTEVT as National Skill Testing Board (NSTB). Since then the Board has been functioning as the secretariat of National Skill Testing Board (NSTB), which has been attached to the council. Till date, NSTB has developed National Occupational Skill Standards/Profiles in 237 different occupations, 108000crafts persons are skill tested and 72730 are certified.

A skill test is the corresponding performance test based on the occupational skill standard which must be demonstrated by every individual to obtain a “NATIONAL SKILL CERTIFICATE” indicating that the certificate holder meets the requirements of a trade/occupation.

Skill Test Requirement:

Occupational/Trade skill tests are open to all skilled workers and crafts persons. Principally, skill testing reaches out to three different target groups

  1. Pass-Outs From Pre-Employment Vocational Training Wishing To Facilitate Their Transition To Work.
  2. Experience Workers (Employed Or Unemployed) Lacking An Official Certification.
  3. Workers Who At The End Of In-Service Training, Seek An Upgraded Or Additional Certificate.

 

Target Group of Skill Test:

The requirements to participate in the skill test are as follows:

  1. Nepalese Citizenship Card.
  2. Four Numbers Of Passport Size And One Auto Size Photos.
  3. Age 16 Years Or Above.
  4. Other Eligibility As Explained Hereunder.

 

For Skill Test Leve l – Elementary:

Successful completion of 140 hours vocational training in relevant occupation/trade.

 

For Skill Test Level-1

Literate with knowledge and skill in the relevant occupation with minimum of one year work experience in a related occupation/trade.

or

Successful completion of one month (160 hours) vocational training in relevant occupation/trade.

or

Vocational training with six months work experience in the relevant occupation/trade.

 

For Skill Test Level-2

Literate with knowledge and skill in the relevant occupation with minimum of three years work experience in a relevant occupation/trade.

or

One year training (minimum 600 hours theory and 800 hours practical) in relevant occupation/trade.

or

One year’s work experience after the level-1 ST certificate passed in relevant occupation/trade.

 

For Skill Test Level-3

Literate with knowledge and skill in the relevant occupation with minimum of five years work experience in a relevant occupation/trade.

or

Two years work experience after one year training in a relevant occupation/trade.

or

One years work experience after skill level-2 certificate passed in relevant occupation/trade.

 

For Skill Test Level-4

Ophthalmic Assistant, Level-3 passed with three year experience and one year training.

or

Certificate level in Health Science (Ophthalmology) equivalent passed with three years experience and one year training.

Occupational Skills Standards

An Occupational Skill Standard is written specification of the practical skills, underlying knowledge, and experience demonstrated by an individual in a particular occupation.

 

ACCREDITATION

The Division has the following responsibilities:

  1. It Ensures Quality Control Of Private Technical Institutions Through Accreditation Of Institutes And The Programs.
  2. It Provides Equivalency And Temporary Affiliation To The Training Programs.
  3. It Provides Equivalency To The People Studied/ Trained Outside The Country.

 

POLYTECHNIC

The Division is responsible for the following activities:

  1. IT Supervises And Monitors The Proficiency Certificate Level /Diploma Level Programs Under CTEVT And Affiliated Institutions To Ensure The Quality.
  2. It Develops New Diploma Level Programs And Or Upgrades Existing Institutions To A Set Standard.
  3. It Takes A Leading Role In Coordinating Polytechnic Programs For The Establishment Of New Model Institutions Under CTEVT.

 

TECS

Formerly known as Annex Division

TECS programmme is a suplementary programmme aiming to provide technical education and vocational training to unemployed and none college bound/dropout youths. This programmme is conceptuallized to implement in the general secondary schools as a pilot programme for maximum utilization of esisting physical facilities, human resources, management and socisl value of the school.

The goal of Annex programme are :

  1. Increase The Access Of Poor, Women And Disadvantaged People To TEVT.
  2. Maximize The Utilization Of Existing Resources Available In Secondary School.
  3. Promote The Active Participation Of Local Bodies And Other Organization In TEVT Programme.
  4. Bring The TEVT Programme With In The Reach Of The Target Group .
  5. Plan And Implement Locally Demanded Training Programme.
  6. Assess Needy Prople And Lauch Training Programme For Them.
  7. Plan Training Programme For Upgrading Local Indigenous Technology.
  8. Develop Entrepreneurship Skill To Minimize Unemployment And Underemployment.

 

CURRICULUM

Main responsibilities of this division are:

  1. Improves All Curricula To Be Used Within The TVET System.
  2. Advises And Assists Other Agencies For Developing Curricula.
  3. Maintains The Database Curricula And Instructional Materials
  4. Designs New Curricula As Per The Needs Identified By The Council As Well As TVET Providers.
  5. Revises The Curricula As Per The Demand Of Job Market.
  6. Develops Textbooks To Cover Up Its Curricula.
  7. Extends Its Cooperation And Coordination Through Designing And Standardizing The Curricula Of Other Training Institutions.
  8. Provides Equivalency To The People Studied/ Trained Outside The Country.
